 Background

Hildur Blöndal is an Icelandic EQ therapist (Emotional Intelligence), educational researcher and former academic whose work brings together the fields of emotional intelligence, multicultural education and global citizenship.

 

Educated as an EQ therapist in Oslo, Norway, Hildur is the founder of Tove Therapy & Consulting — a private practice offering therapy and consulting services that integrate emotional intelligence, cross-cultural understanding and personal development. Through her work Hildur supports individuals and families navigate cultural transitions, emotional challenges and personal growth.

Hildur worked for years as a teacher, researcher and program manager at the University of Iceland. Drawing on her background in both research and practice, she bridges the worlds of education, emotional care and human connection. She is passionate about fostering inclusive, emotionally intelligent approaches to learning, well-being and global living in today’s interconnected world.

Hildur holds a Bachelor of Education degree in Pedagogy and a Master of Education in Multicultural Education. Her research explores how internationally mobile individuals experience identity, belonging and emotional transitions. Highlighting how multicultural competencies and intercultural communication skills can enrich both personal and professional life. She has contributed to numerous research projects in the field of multicultural education, focusing on topics such as the empowerment of women, inclusion and integration, the experiences of students with immigrant backgrounds in higher education and multilingualism among preschool children.

One of Hildur's passions has been to study how international mobility shapes  global awareness - how lived experiences of globally mobile individuals impacts their world views, their choices in life and their interpersonal as well as intercultural communication skills.

Hildur also has a deep and ongoing interest in the influence of nutrition and diet on mental and physical health. In that context she has completed various courses and training, including a Diploma in Health and Wellness from Harvard Medical School. Over the past three years she has served as an expert and consultant in this field for the Norwegian project Destination Joy (No. Destinasjon Glede) led by Björg Thorhallsdottir, which is a one-year course that aims at improving wellness and happiness, with participation of approximately one thousand individuals each year.

Hildur has lived and worked in five countries, she is married to Hermann Ingólfsson and is a proud mother of two sons.

She offers therapy in English, Icelandic, Danish and Norwegian.
